Goodbye, Sprite Zero...I will miss you.

Well, this is it. I just had my last Sprite Zero with dinner. The last one.

I'll miss you, Sprite Zero.

(Yes, i know i look scary.)

So at some point in life i got addicted to Coca-Cola. LOVED it. I don't remember being allowed soft drinks as a child, but i DO remember us drinking koolaide. Lots of koolaide. Which means SUGAR. I'm sure i started drinking coke in middle school, and i know by my twenties i was drinking TONS of the stuff.

I remember drinking 6 or more coca cola's a DAY.

HORRIBLE.

I didn't start my health journey until June of 2009, but i believe it was that January that I had one New Year's Resolution: quit cokes. And i did. I mean, i was VERY successful. I stopped drinking regular coke. Cold turkey. After 1/1/09, i had no more cokes. I think i had NONE for at least the first 6 months. After that i would have one MAYBE every 4 months. Which i was fine with.

But at some point, i replaced my cokes with sprite zero. I don't like regular sprite or diet coke, but i like diet sprite, go figure. So i started drinking just one a day. But before i knew it, i was drinking 2 a day. And now, i have 2 or 3 each day. I know it's not the end of the world, it's calorie-free, has no caffeine & very little sodium. Yes, it has aspartame in it, but i didn't really care.I figured i was good for quitting 6+ regular cokes. And i was!

As you know, for the last year i have really struggled with weightloss. I have worked hard, i have changed my lifestyle, and i have had a hard time losing weight. But i realize now that i wasn't making more changes. I was just continually doing what wasn't working. I finally added strength training in October, and then i quit altogether. I mean, i wasn't intentionally quitting, but i was not doing well at ALL.

This January was a fresh start for me. I have been doing SO WELL, working out 5 days a week & eating pretty healthy. But my trainer made some suggestions & i am going to do what she has recommended! I mean, it's time to step it up a notch! : )

So. No more Sprite Zero. :)

I have been slacking on water intake lately, too. But i think by stopping sprite, i'll be drinking more water.
It's a good thing.

Have a great week!

8 little notes:

  1. Way to go! It is so hard to give up something that makes us so darn happy...you can do it! Try adding some cucumber, lemon, mint or even pineapple to your water...gives it that flavor kick! Have a fantastic week!

  5. Good job! If I can break up with diet Dr. pepper, you can break up with Sprite Zero. I was like, totally addicted. :D

  6. Yay! You'll never miss it, I promise you...I've given up soda for a while now, and when I do have a taste, it doesn't taste good at all.
